Hey everyone! Hope you guys are doing alright on this lovely Sunday. I just wanted to announce something that I and a few other artists will be doing this week.
Some of you fellas who follow me may know gamesbynick. He’s an awesome artist with a lot of clever ideas, and he’s also working on a couple of really neat projects that I honestly can’t wait to see. Not to mention he’s a cool friend, not just to me, but to everyone who knows him.
If you don’t know about it, he’s had a rough time dealing with a nasty case of tendonitis on his dominant hand during the past few months. He’s improved significantly, to the point that he can draw a few things he’s been wanting to do for a while. However, he’s still going through the healing process, not to mention due to this whole thing he’s currently unemployed.
So! Me, Heffy, and Gus have decided to host some donation streams to raise up a bit of cash to help Nick out! We’ll be taking requests in exchange for donations. Here are the dates when we’ll be streaming:
4/21- RedBlooper (2PM-6PM EST)
4/22- RedBlooper (3PM-7PM EST)
4/24- Gus (will be updated)
4/25- Gus (will be updated)
4/26- Heffy (will be updated)
I’ll also update what sort of drawings Heff and Gus will be offering (as well as prices) as soon as I can.
As for me, I’ll be offering $5 sketches, $8 colored sketches, and $10 inked drawings. This is a step down to what I usually offer for art, but I hope this price drop will lead to more donators and with that more donations. If you can’t or don’t want to purchase a drawing from me, then please consider buying one from any of the other artists contributing to this event.
And to all those still waiting for commissions from me, I haven’t forgotten about you! I’ll be working on those when I’m not streaming this week.
Our goal is to raise up at least $200, but if we can raise more that’d be excellent!
To keep track of donations, all donations will go to the Paypal address email@example.com. After the 26th, ALL donations received will then be sent to Nick’s paypal. I hope this week of donation streams is successful!
See you guys on tomorrow’s stream!
I optimized joshsora’s original models for the elections, specifically the counters and ropes. They use less polygons while retaining their original look. I even added some enhancements to it, such as the new flag and bowtie.
I shrunk the inside of the counter to give a sort of illusion that it looks bigger inside than it actually. These kind of effects remind me of how Imagineers make stuff in Disney theme parks. This also obscures the flag before it pops out during the animation, while helping us manage the “lighting” inside easier. (Toontown doesn’t have shaders after all)
Speaking of shading, I also attached a couple shading planes above and below the dials. The numbers in the middle easily stands out as a result of this highlighting effect.
I added rigging to these counters. They help achieve the bending of the body, the spinning of the dials, and the flutter of each flag. rogerdog created the animations you see during the election sequence. Did we surprise you?
(PS Did you catch the dramatic fall of Slappy’s Booth? rogerdog animated that too!)
Thank ya for putting up with all my rigging nitpicks :P They were great to work with in the end, and made animating them MUUUUCHH easier. XD
(And shoutouts to Joshsora for originally modeling these too!!)
Hopefully I find some time to record the animation work I did for Toontown Rewritten, was really fun working on this project!
